ABOUT US:
SVHLEGACYLIVES is a scholarship that was created to celebrate the life of Stephana Venita High. The scholarship was formed after the sudden passing of Stephana due to complications from the novel coronavirus-2019. Stephana High was a proud alumni of Mexia High School “Class of 1985”. Stephana also furthered her educational journey and completed both her Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Education from Baylor University. Stephana High was a known advocate for youth within the education system and served as an educator for 24 years at Mexia ISD, Coolidge ISD, Wortham ISD, Navarro Junior College and McLennan Community College. Stephana was known not only at the local or state level but also on a national level as an on-air personality known as “Lady DJ” with KNES Texas 99.1FM. Through this platform Stephana was rewarded with numerous nominations and ultimately nominated for the Gospel Stellar Award announcer and radio station of the year. Stephana often used this platform to help encourage youth from all socioeconomic backgrounds to understand that it is possible to achieve anything when you put your mind and faith into action. In 1987 Stephana High gave her life to Christ and over the years she served as a member of the Prisoners of Christ Ministry and Spiritual Awakening Prison Ministry. Stephana High was a pillar in the Limestone and Freestone County community in which she was known by many. Stephana made it a point to impact the lives of everyone that she could by doing the little things to help encourage and motivate those around her to become the best “YOU”. Education was a component that Stephana pushed all youth to achieve. This annual scholarship was created to honor the legacy of such a phenomenal figure in the Central Texas community and also give back to many deserving High School Seniors who have dreams of furthering their education at the next level.
